Antioxidant Strength Test Results Summary ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) strength study has been conducted on this fruit. Acai antioxidant properties are measured to be at least 10 times stronger than cranberries or blueberries (lowbush variety). This fruit proved to be most effective against peroxyl radical, superoxide, and peroxynitrate. However, one precaution is that it is not as effective against the hydroxyl radical. Additionally, acai antioxidant effectiveness tests indicated that this fruit in a particular freeze-dried pulp form is at least mildly capable of inhibiting Cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2.
