Blue light acne treatment

Introduction:

Human body has pores on the surface of the skin and each pore opens from a canal called follicle, which contains hair and oil gland. Sometimes due to some internal or external factors, our skin oil glands also known as sebaceous glands produces excess oil and choke the pour. This results in acne. Although acne can be caused by various factors but the most common factors include hormonal changes, certain drugs, high level of uncomfortable weather conditions such as humidity and certain cosmetic products. There are various options available for treatment of acne and one of the latest techniques is blue light.

Blue light and its benefit:

Bacterial inflammation in acne is caused by P. acnes a bacterium. Blue light is exposed at a certain length at the center of the acne site and produces certain mechanism to kill the bacteria. Once the bacteria are killed the acne site clears up quickly. Sometimes it is administered alone and sometimes with topical gel or cream. Aminolevulinic acid is preferred as topical medicine and administered with blue light. Blue light treatment is now FDA approved for treating moderate acne and it widely becoming popular for the quick relief from acne. This technique is useful for acne lesions producing sebaceous glands as well as other normal sebaceous glands.

 Working of blue light:

The treatment procedure for blue light is very simple and very easy. You will be asked to sit in front of a blue light source for a certain interval and in case you are prescribed topical and blue light treatment simultaneously you should apply the topical gel half an hour before the treatment with blue light commences. Your doctor will decide the time duration and time interval between your two sittings. Depending on the severity of your acne your total sitting will also be decided by your doctor.

Benefits of blue light:

Blue light acne treatment is totally natural and it has no side effect. The treatment is simple and you can treat yourself at your home as prescribed by your doctor. The treatment is totally non-invasive and completely painless. It is completely safe for all ages and group of people. The treatment time is very short and it is quite effective. The blue light acne treatment is safe for surrounding tissues or sebaceous oil glands and do not harm to them.

Treatment duration:

Treatment duration may vary from person to person and it depends on severity of acne as well as the treatment response. It generally takes two to four weeks for reducing the acne symptoms for moderate acne and may take more time for moderate to severe acne.
