Infant Acne Treatment
Introduction:
Infant acne is more common in children up to six month of age. Sometimes acne can be present at the time of birth but it is visible only after a couple of week. The symptoms of acne are visible on different part of the body such as cheeks, forehead and even hands and back and sometimes remain up to three years of age. The common symptoms include whiteheads surrounded by reddish skin and flare up hen washed with strong detergent.
Acne and milia:
Infant acne is more common in boys than girls. This type of acne should be distinguished from milia another common problem in infants. In milia the tiny reddish bumps disappeared from the skin within a few weeks. There is no relation between acne and milia. Acne is more severe and painful for a baby and it is better to consult a doctor.
Infant acne a natural phenomenon:
Infant acne seems to be a natural phenomenon among children. Many children pass this stage within a few months. During this period the child go through the production and utilization of hormones in the body and it is very good for the child. Sometimes the alteration in the child’s hormone causes the eruptions of red bumps and whiteheads on the face. This reddish bump or whitehead automatically goes within a few months. Sometimes the acne outbreaks several times during the first couple of years, in such situation you should see your doctor for a remedy.
Although infant acne is a natural process in which the infant learn the use of various hormones in the body and there are fair chances that the hormones may increase for a point of time resulting in infant acne. Sometimes it is also believed that the hormone received by the fetus is responsible for the pimples. Scientists are also looking for other factors that may flare up the acne.
Precaution:
Many times people believe that the pimples on face of infant occurs due to dirt and dust and try to wash the face with several times with soap. This should not be done as some of the cosmetic soap can aggravate the situation. Several time rubbing the pimples and skin will also flare up the acne. Sometimes rubbing with towel will also aggravate and flare up the acne.
Home made remedies for treating infant acne:
Although if you observe severe acne on the face of infants, it is better to contact your doctor. You can try some of the non-irritating homemade remedies also, but it is better to avoid any stringent topical lotion or gel. Sometimes your doctor may advice you to gently wash babies face with non-irritating soap.
