Aloe Vera ResearchAloe Vera is a plant that has a long history of use as a healing agent that dates back to biblical times or even earlier. It has long been considered as a multi purpose herbal plant that has miraculous curing properties. After going through a period of neglect during the colonial period, Aloe Vera regained public attention in the 20th Century. The earliest scientific research into Aloe Vera appears to have been carried out in the 1930s. The research probed into its effect on X-Ray burns Present day commercial use of the plant started with a latex substance called Aloin that was found in the yellow sap derived from the plant and was useful as a laxative. This product was recorded in governmental and technical literature as Aloe. Later Aloe gel, a clear colorless semi-solid was discovered and marketed. Many of the wonder properties of Aloe Vera actually come from this gel, which is used as a base for nutritional drinks and in cosmetics. Research into the constituents of this gel has revealed that it contains amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, proteins, polysaccharides, and biological stimulators. A considerable amount of research continues to be done to obtain greater information about the properties and characteristics of this wonder plant. New research delves into the various components of Aloe and how it is able to produce effective and wonderful results. |
