Smellin' Good Made Easy

Perfume has been a woman's best friend since the bible days. It was often used to attract the opposite sex. In some cultures, it's even a way to show your status or cover up the fact that you haven't had a shower in weeks.

Yikes!!

But those aren't the only reasons we love smellin awesome. How we smell and what kind of perfume we choose can tell a lot about ourselves. So you wanna step it up to your own signature scent? Want to stand out and smell great? What would you prefer? Subtle and feminine, or musky and woodsy? Here are some different ways to find the perfect spritz for you.

1. Invent Your Scent.  If you don't have the money to be spending on costly name brand scents, why not just make your own? Like we said before, your scent should reflect your own unique personality. Herbalists or Therapists specialize in organics and can help you make your choices. No one knows you better than yourself!

2. Get Acquainted.  If you decided not to buy your perfume, make sure it's one that you'll like. At most department stores the products they have there are quality, but expensive. There may also be a trained staff to help you make your choice. Free samples are always good too. Make sure you aren't allergic to anything in the fragrance's mix.

3. Explore your Scent. When you are busy sampling perfumes, take your time to pick the right one. When you are sampling, spray a little bit of each on a blotting card or your wrist and wait for your natural body scent and the perfume to blend. If your nose likes what it smells, then narrow your choices down to one or two. You may also want to be aware of what season you will be wearing it in. More piercing smells, like vanilla or cinnamon, are better during colder weather because their scent inspires warmth and comfort. Citrus, floral and fruity scents are great for hotter months because they are light and airy.

4. Blondes or Brunette?   Blondes usually have lighter skin should go for fragrances that last long, because their skin causes subtle scents to disappear quickly. Brunettes usually have dark or olive skin, with more natural oils. This allows the fragrances to last longer. Red heads have very fragile skin, so they need something that will be light and fresh.

5. Flaunt It. But don't overdo it. Especially in the summer months, when body heat can strengthen your fragrances if you have oily skin, you don't need as much because it has the power to retain smells. Spray it well before you leave, so it has time to settle with your body chemistry. Enjoy what you wear, and be confident I how you smell, because that is what perfume is all about.

If using foundation, always apply it not too long after moisturising. This ensures the foundation will mix in then it wont look as fake. It also lasts longer through the day. - Submitted by Kristy
