Dry Hair

Dry hair is caused by heat and the elements, but it can also be caused by bleaching or chemicals that remove a lot of the natural moisture and texture from your hair. As a result, dry hair becomes thin and rough. It is susceptible to tangles, damage, breakage and split ends.
Therefore, prevention is an important process of helping dry hair. Try not to use extra hot dryers and heat styling instruments. If you must use these products, use them on the lowest heat setting possible. If you plan on being exposed to the sun or wind for a long period then you should consider wearing a hat or scarf. If possible, do not wash your hair each day unless you have a condition that requires it such as an oily scalp. Preferably, wash your hair only two or three times a week and use shampoo only often enough to remove dirt and buildup.
If you already have dry hair then you need to replenish the oil and moisture content of your hair. This is why conditioning is so important in hair care. Strong cleansings, dry toning exercises, and massaging of the scalp cause dryness and flakiness on the scalp. Using a strong action shampoo may actually make dry hair worse. To help your dry hair apply oil generously and massage it in before you wash your hair.
When treating dry hair first consider whether your scalp and hair are moisture dry or oil dry. A good home remedy is to beat an egg in a cup of milk and when it foams consistently rub it into the scalp. Then leave it in for five minutes and rinse thoroughly. Do this twice a week and moisture will be restored to your hair.
For oil dry hair use either castor oil or coconut oil. Add a teaspoon of lavender oil. Heat the oil slightly and then massage it gently into your scalp before going to bed at night. Then rinse or shampoo the oil out in the morning. Do this twice a week to restore oil content to your dry hair.
Once you have restored your dry hair, try a couple different shampoos and conditions to find the one that has the right level of conditioning for your hair. A drop of ofsiliconeserum will help to seal in the moisture and add some shine to your hair.
It is also a good idea to look for conditioners that have shea or cocoa butter. If not you can always massage in one-fourth teaspoon of warm olive oil once a week at night starting at the ends and working your way up. This will help repair and rebuild chemically treated hair and restore softness to dry hair.
It is always a good idea to find a product that is in the middle. You want conditioners that can seal in moisture but you don’t want one that will weigh down your hair. Always remember never to comb, brush or massage your hair vigorously if it is dry since this will create further problems by damaging your hair.
The top product for treating excessively dry hair is L’anza Dry Hair Moisture Treatment. This product not only gives you hair moisture but also helps repair and prevent damage by providing elasticity to the hair. It will even help prevent frizz and leave your hair shiny, vibrant and thick.
A second product that is good for dry hair is Formulas Ecoly Papaya Dry Hair Shampoo. It is an intense moisturizer that will provide you quick results. This shampoo also has vitamins that will help treat and prevent split ends at the same time it helps your dry hair.
