Permanent Facial Hair Removal by ElectrosysThe only facial hair permanent removal that is recommended by medical professionals as a permanent solution is electrolysis. Men and women both have made this treatment popular since it is the only method so far of facial hair removal that is permanent and gives desired results. Electrolysis has three different types. All of these types involve a fine, steel probe or needle to treat each hair individually with an electric current. While this may sound painful it actually only feels like a tiny pinch. There are some people who have even fallen asleep while undergoing treatment. A prescription anesthetic cream called EMLA can be used by more sensitive individuals. The treatment will become quite comfortable by applying the cream one hour before treatment to sufficiently numb the area. EMLA has no major side effects but may temporarily cause skin reddening or blanching. After about an hour the skin should return to normal. In addition to facial hair permanent removal, electrolysis can be performed on all body areas including arms, legs, hands and feet. Only a qualified physician should perform the technique on the inside of the nose, ears or eyelids. Of all the types of electrolysis, thermolysis is considered the best since it is the only one where the current doesn’t travel through the whole body. Thermolysis began in the forties. It is the quickest form of electrolysis and causes no chemical reaction. It is important to find a professionally trained practitioner of electrolysis before having the treatment done. They should not only be trained in the techniques and skill, but they should also be trained in proper sterilization methods as well. To know this, don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask to view the equipment before signing up for the procedure. Once you select a practitioner they will give you a consultation before they begin the first treatment. You don’t pay for these consultations and during them your practitioner will thoroughly explain the process and answer any of your personal questions. They will also tell you what you need to do in order to keep up the results of your electrolysis treatments. If you choose electrolysis you should be prepared for the fact that you will probably need a series of treatments. The total number of treatments depends entirely on the individual and how much removal is needed. These treatments can take anywhere from a few months to a year or more. Texture of the hair and skin in addition to the area needing to be cleared also plays an important role. The good news is that with electrolysis the results are immediate right after the first treatment. Electrolysis takes so long because it must work with the hair growth cycle which can take awhile. You will have great results with electrolysis as long as you stick with the treatments through to the end. If you stop part of the way through treatment you won’t be happy with the results. Not only will you be free of unwanted hair by the end of the treatment, but the texture of your skin will also improve. So it is important to stick with the treatment process no matter how long it takes.
