my hair is REALLY thick and when i striaghten it it goes straight for about 2 hours and then its extreme poofiness! So i tried a relaxer and a heat straightner at the same time and it was straight much much longer.

I have really thick and curly hair and straightening can take up to 2 hours if not longer. I usually straighten my hair at night and try to avoid blow drying (the flat iron is enough heat!) I have to straighten my hair by really small and thin sections at a time and I start from the bottom and work my way up. When I'm finished I use a shine serum (super skinny by paul mitchell) and it works great! Also run a fine toothed comb through your hair as you're straightening it helps eliminate frizz! I know many places suggest using little conditioner and clarifying shampoos but shampoo is so damaging to your hair! Try limiting how many times you shampoo a week to 2-3 but be sure to condition every time you wash your hair!

If your hair gets poofy as it dries, and is hard to straighten, use sunsilk leave in conditioner while your flat ironing, it helps a lot.

One product that I found works pretty good if you have medium hair is herbal essences..dangerously straight. If you put that in and then blow dry your hair using a big round brush a few times until they get completely dry. After drying then go over it with a straightner if needed. A good straightner is used on wet hair to straighten them. You can get them at walmart and they cost you around $15-20. Hope it works for you.

What works for me is that just straighten your hair,(with your hair straightener), in sections at a time. When you are done, which for me take 2 hours because of the curls, lock in with some kind of serum. Oh! and while your straightening run a comb through every peice it really really syops frizz! GOOD LUCK!!
