Hair Perfume

Niz | Hair, Homemade Recipes & Remedies | Saturday, 29 October 2005

Here is a homemade recipe for hair perfume:

It is pleasant to perfume the hair after washing it when the hair is half dry. The following ingredients are required to make this fragrant perfume.

6 tablespoons powdered charcoal
5 tablespoons powdered myrrh
1 tablespoon powdered red benzoic
1 tablespoon potassium nitrate
2-3 drops oil of bergamot
2-3 drops of sandalwood mucilage of tragacanth

Mix the powders together and sieve, and then add the oils. Add the potassium nitrate, and then sufficient mucilage of tragacanth to make a stiff paste. Heat the mixture over a water bath and then make into little cones and dry. Just light one of the cones and let the smoke go into the damp hair. The smell is highly aromatic and exotic.

Hope you liked the above hair perfume recipe.

Here are some useful tips for greasy hair:

  • Do not wash your hair everyday.
  • Use a ph-balanced mild shampoo.
  • Avoid conditioner at the roots.
  • Stay away from shine products.
  • Keep away from two-in-one shampoos and conditioners and any frizz serums.
  • For a quick fix solution to oily hair, rub a little talcum powder on your dried hair at the roots, and give it a vigorous brush. Later, just make sure you wash it out.

Sunburn Remedy

Niz | Homemade Recipes & Remedies | Monday, 03 October 2005

The succulent leaves of the aloe vera plant provide such a healing gel for burns. Many burn centres use it on their patients. The gel contains aloectin B, an immune system stimulant, and penetrates all three layers of the skin. If you have an aloe vera house plant, simply snip off a two inch leaf end, slit it open, and rub the inside over the burn.

We hope this sunburn remedy really helps you! :)

Natural Manicure

Niz | Homemade Recipes & Remedies | Saturday, 01 October 2005

File your nails in one direction only, and always do this when your nails are dry. Wash your hands and soak in warm water or a fruit acid solution such as buttermilk or organic apple cider vinegar, before applying a cold pressed fruit or nut oil into the cuticle. Use the blunt end of an orangewood manicure stick to gently push the cuticles back from the nails. Dry your hands completely. Sand and polish the top of each nail with a fine pumice-stone or sand stick to remove any ridges. Once the ridges are removed , smooth the top of the nail with a smoothing file and a buffing chamois. Massage your hands with a moisturising cream or lotion.
