Summer Skin Care

The summer is here. With it comes your daily package deal of acne, pimples, blemishes and the sunburns. Here are some vital tips that will help you beat the summer blues and keep you looking clean and fresh.

Summer Skin Care

• Avoid heavy make-up in summer.
• Avoid oil-based foundations. They attract more dirt and make your skin look greasy.
• Summer is good time for those creamy lipsticks. Reserve the darker shades for evening free. Prefer the glossy light ones that are perfect for those nude looks.
• Apply some good mud packs. They will help revitalise your skin.
• Use a sunscreen everyday with a minimum of SPF 15.
• Use a good moisturizer. The sun makes you sweat a lot, making your skin dry.
• Stay out of the sun. It increases your sebum production making your skin oily.
• Drink lots of water through the day, not only to replenish moisture lost to the heat and sweat but also to help flush toxins out of the body and keep skin looking clear and lustrous.
• Eat fruits, vegetables and herbs, which supply the skin with essential nutrients and come with free-radical fighting antioxidant properties while they help keep your skin cool. Carrots, lettuce, summer squash such as zucchini, celery, asparagus and leafy greens are good vegetable choices. Sweet juicy fruits such as pears, grapes, watermelon and mangoes both nourish and cleanse.
• Go easy on your diet. Avoid spicy and oily food; instead eat lots of fruits and salads. You will feel and look fresher.
• Go easy on spicy or sour foods, especially if you plan to go out and enjoy the sun for the day, to keep your skin from breaking out or getting inflamed.
• Milk is a cooling beverage that also supplies nutrients to your skin and helps to keep it from drying out. Drink at least a cup daily.
• Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, and a little more sleep. Get as much rest as you can. It helps in rejuvenating your skin.
• The cold water treatment does wonders. Splash your face, hands and legs with cold water when you come back from the days work. It will no only clean you up, but also serve as a refreshing freshener.
