Toning the Face Without Surgery

Niz | Beauty | Tuesday, 09 December 2008

At some point in a person’s life, the person staring back in the mirror is not the person remembered. Wrinkles, skin tone, texture and elasticity are now part of the reflection. The person in the mirror reflects all of life’s good times, bad times, genetics, stress and environmental factors. Whether the result of good or bad times in life, the face reflects something we may wish to change if we could.

The first attempt in changing the facial appearance may be through anti-aging creams. The anti-aging creams may improve the tone and even the texture of the skin possibly. Even with professional treatments applying quality products the results will not bring back the sagging cheeks and jaw-line or youthful color of the skin that a person once had. There are many products on the market that make big claims and solutions for these issues, but is there really anything that can be done?

There are many different reasons for the aging of the skin according to some experts. These explanations include a person’s genetic preset future, lacking of a nutrient-rich diet that include necessary elements to rejuvenate and regenerate the skin, weak muscles and reduction in collagen cause the skin to sag and toxins in the body and environmental factors on the outside of the body damage the skin’s cells. So is there anything to repair this damage?

There are a few options for a person to choose from that actually have results. Botox injections have become increasingly popular lately. These injections are inserted to the small muscles underneath the noticeable lines in the face causing concern. The botox works to paralyze the muscle into the correct place, creating a smooth, tightened face temporarily. After three or six months the procedure will need to be repeated.

Another option is non-ablative procedures. Non-ablative therapies are those that do not break down outer tissues as they work their way down to stimulate collagen growth in the dermis. The non-invasive procedures in use deliver a controlled energy to the skin. The process is gradual and the smoothing of wrinkles occurs over time.

Yet another option is a plastic surgeon. Not an option for most people due to the large cost associated with surgery, it is an invasive option with that carry the dangers of surgery as well as a period of down-time due to recovery.

A new natural method for facial improvement is facial exercises. Facial exercises are inexpensive and a non-invasive way to combat the aging fate. Facial exercise and massages are a routine a person needs to stick to as with any other form of exercise, in order to stimulate the facial muscles which will help the skin stay in its proper place. It has been reported that if a person does stick with the regimen, results will appear. Several versions of facial massage and exercise vary from self-educating books, professional treatments or various devices for a person to use. Some of the more popular anti-aging exercises and massages include the Indian facial massage, facial exercises developed by gyms is a new trend and also a facial exercise ball used in conjunction with herbal nutrients to resistance train the muscles while treating the skin with herbal therapy. All of these have been reported to be effective, which works the best will be up to the individual to decide.

Getting Rid of Unsightly Dark Circles under the Eyes

Niz | Beauty | Wednesday, 03 December 2008

The area under the eye is normally the place to truly test whether you are getting enough rest. For the healthy individual the area under the eye will not be discolored, but will blend into the rest of your facial skin. If you lose sleep or don’t eat right then you will get ugly dark circles and bags under your eyes. Genetics can sometimes play a part as well and you may inherit dark circles under your eyes from your parents. No matter what the cause, no one wants to have a tired and unhealthy look.

Many creams on the market claim to get rid of your dark circles, but you may wonder how many really work. What is the magic ingredient in these creams that can take years off your face? One of the main ingredients is Haloxyl which helps to prevent and reduce the dark circles. However, the best and most effective ingredient you can find is Dithiolane 3 Pentanoic Acid or D3PA.

D3PA is helpful in many areas including increasing the healthy blood circulation of your skin to give you a glowing appearance. It is also an excellent antioxidant which helps to reduce puffiness in the skin and get rid of dark patches or circles. Make sure the product you choose has enough of this excellent ingredient to make a difference. Many companies use just a pinch of this ingredient, enough out get it on the list of ingredients but not enough to make it effective or to make a big difference.

An all-in-one cream that uses the correct amounts of ingredients is LifeCell. With LifeCell you can be happy with the results and get the results that the company claims you will see. There is even a money back guarantee to help back up their claims.

If you’re tired to those bags and dark circles under your eyes then take a look at the ingredients list to see if the product you are using or are about to purchase can really stand the test of time and do a good job. You don’t want to waste time and money on a product that makes false claims. If this is the case then consider LifeCell for a product that can truly give you a life changing experience.

Prevent Unwanted Effects on the Skin from the Sun

Niz | Beauty | Wednesday, 03 December 2008

The sun is a beautiful thing. It can warm our days, help to grow our surroundings and the food that we eat and even makes us feel better. The sun can have a negative effect on us as well through either ultraviolet rays or simply pulling the moisture from our skin. Some have resorted to staying indoors to avoid the sun, but is this drastic measure really necessary?

The breeze of a beautiful sunny can still be felt by going outdoors, but sun protection is a step that should be taken before going out. Sun protection through sun screen will greatly reduce the effects done to the skin by the sun such as skin cancers from the ultraviolet rays or premature aging.

Sunscreen protection for the skin can be found either in regular beach formulated sunscreens or as an additive to moisturizers or even in cosmetic applications. There are various options for protection from a small amount to serious coverage protection. Sunscreens are rated in two main areas – the PA rating system and the SPF of the product. The PA rating system rates the level of protection from UVA rays while the SPF rating increases based on the length of time a person will be protected from UVB rays.

The PA rating of UVA rays are harder to find listed on sunscreen or sunscreen additive products but a person’s skin quality will thank you for the extra effort. PA ratings are shown as follows: PA+, PA++ or PA+++, with PA+++ being the most effective rating for protection against long-term effects on the skin. UVB rays show protection through the SPF, or Sun Protection Factor shows the time frame of effectiveness the product will have in protecting the person from the sun’s burning abilities. SPF can be as low as two or as high as fifty and upwards from there. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) can only at this time accurately teat SPF up to ratings of fifty, when testing can accurately show the increased protection of ratings over fifty, it will be shown on the product’s label as such but until then it is shown as SPF 50+. The higher the SPF number, the longer it will be able to protect a person from burning when compared to burning without protection. As an example, if it took 15 minutes for the start of sunburn on an unprotected person, a SPF30 will allow the person to be protected thirty times longer to avoid sunburn. In this example we have used it would protect the skin for 450 minutes (7 hours, 30 minutes). A SPF of thirty is recommended for everyday protection while extended periods of sun exposure should require at least an SPF of fifty or higher.

UVA and UVB rays are both areas in which a person needs protection from. UVA rays, or the ultraviolet A rays is responsible for damaging the collagen fibers and breaking down Vitamin A in the skin, this causes the wrinkles and sagging of the skin and premature-look. UVB rays, or ultraviolet B rays are the ones that creates the painful sunburns and the DNA damage such as skin cancers. There is also a third from of rays that come from the sun, these are known as UVC or ultraviolet C rays. They are the most powerful and most damaging rays, but is filtered out by the earth’s atmosphere and that is why no mention is given to UVC rays in regards to skin protection. For maximum protection from both UVA and UVB rays, choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that contains avobenzone, oxybenzone, mexoryl, zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Application of sunscreen should be applied at least thirty minutes prior to exposure and applied every two hours regardless of the duration of the product’s protection. This should be increased to applications applied even more frequently when swimming, since it will be removed by the water over time even when using a waterproof product. Don’t forget certain areas such as ears, fingers or feet. Sun damage can also happen on the scalp or to the eyes so remember to bring the hat and sunglasses as well as the sunscreen to the beach or park.
