infernoii | Makeup | Saturday, 01 September 2007

I just had to brag about my wife’s beauty consultant. We had a party the other night with all the bigwigs from work and so my wife’s consultant offered to do her makeup for her. Now I usually don’t put much stock in this beauty reps. I figure they don’t really not what they are doing and are just trying to make a buck off of gullible people, but when my wife came back to go to the party. DAMN!! She looked GOOD! Now I have been married a few years, so it take a something special to get that kind of a reaction these days. But, that did it. Of course, I didn’t feel too bad when half the people from my work were eyeing my wife. You can look, but don’t touch the merchandise! How To Apply Foundation

abrogers | Makeup | Friday, 24 November 2006

Applying foundation is the most sensitive thing, as if it is not done appropriately, then it would give you a pretty bad look. Therefore you need to understand as to how you are going to apply the foundation that would suit you the best. The right way to apply a foundation is that your skin looks natural and does not look any odd. If you are applying the foundation the right way then you are able to hide the roughness, spots, blemishes of your skin.

So when you are to apply a foundation, you must see as to what is your skin type and color, as this will help you to select the right foundation for you.

Now in the coming paragraphs, we are going to discuss different foundations one by one.
Liquid Foundations are suitable for all skin types. These foundations, they usually cover the entire area pretty easily and gives you a more natural look. They are pretty easy to apply as well. You can get the liquid foundations that are prepared in both the water based and the oil based formulas.

Cream Foundations are not a good choice because they dry up pretty quickly and it makes the blending of the makeup pretty difficult. They give a pretty extensive coverage and are known for their moisturizing properties and hence it is ideal for the normal and dry skin.

Compact Foundations are the best choice for oily and normal skin. They give lighter coverage when they are applied with a dry sponge and they give a heavy coverage when they are applied with a wet sponge.

Dual Active Powder Foundations are best for women who have less time for makeup and are in the working class and have to meet their deadlines. This provides the foundation and the powder in one application and gives excellent coverage.

The tinted moisturizer is best for all skin types and it gives a nice glow to your skin and helps moisturize the dry skin that gets more dry with the exposure to the sun. These moisturizers commonly are available with an SPF protection.

When you are selecting the foundation for you, you must know that the color of the foundation must be identical to your skin tone. So, you must go for a foundation that is yellow based foundation and must avoid the pink or orange tones. When you are selecting the color, you must select it in the natural light, which will give you the right idea as to what is best for you.

When you are applying the foundation, you must apply the foundation dots carefully on one side of the face first and then blend them well with the makeup sponge from top of your face to down, which would create a smooth and even finish. Now you need to repeat the same procedure to the opposite side. You must blend the foundation correctly and you must make sure that you have blended the foundation under the jawline, under the hair line and the ear lobes, corners of the nose, corners of the eyes and under the eyes. After applying the foundation, you must apply the powder by gently dusting it on the skin and this will set your foundation.

Camouflaging Through Makeup

abrogers | Beauty Problems, Makeup | Friday, 24 March 2006

There are a lot of skin problems such as pigmentations, skin irregularities, roughness of skin etc. and can cause pretty serious cosmetic concerns among women and these concerns can be addressed through makeup, which can camouflage these problems and makes the skin look more healthy and natural.

Add Life To Dull Skin:

You can apply color from a tinted powder or bronzer and can apply that gently over the skin of your cheeks, nose, and on the forehead, as well as your chin and this will add a new look to your face.

How To Prevent Applying A Heavy Makeup

It must be noted that when you are applying a concealing makeup, you must keep your hand lighter. It is always better to apply two light coats than applying a one heavy layer of makeup. The places that you need to take care of are the sides of the nose, the sides of the eyes and the inner portion of the eyes connecting with the nose, jaw line, hairline, and just apply the makeup as smoothly as you can.

How To Cover Pigment Marks

Generally the makeup is applied with a finger on the face. There is a difference with use of finger and the cosmetic sponge. With the finger, the dabs are generally harder, whereas with the cosmetic sponge, the dabs are much much lighter and you can spread the amount of cosmetic that you want. You can use makeup brush to reach the areas where it is difficult to spread the makeup with the finger or with the cosmetic sponge such as sides of nose, inner side of the eyes etc. You can dab the area with either the finger or the cosmetic sponge, the way you would like the best the area that is darker and do not try to rub the area, as the makeup that you have applied will be pulled off.

Pigmentation Under The Eyebrow Or Around The Hairline

These are the areas that are mostly overlooked. The best way to camouflage this area is to dab the concealer through the hair until the pigmentation is covered properly. You can then gently pat the powder off of your hair. The pigmentation can be covered that appears under the eyebrow with the same process as you have done to cover the dark marks around the hairline. After that you can also apply an eyebrow liner to cover the rest of the mark that is appearing through the hair so that it can be covered completely.

Pigments Around The Eye

The eye is considered as the most difficult area because of the contours around the eyes, eyelids and the crease. The best way to cover the dark areas around eyes is with a brush and should be done very smoothly as the skin around the eye is very thin. You must select a shade for the area around your eyes that matches your skin. You must remember as to spread the makeup in layers and not rub your finger too hard on the skin as it will take off the makeup that has already been placed in layers.

Long lasting foundation

Niz | Makeup | Saturday, 06 August 2005

Tired of your foundation disappearing on you? Had it with shiny breakthroughs just minutes into your day? Don’t blame your skin, blame the foundation. The culprit just might be a tad too much oil in your base. But don’t toss it. Apply your foundation as always, and maybe just a tad bit more. Then with a clean kleenex folded into squares, lightly press into your skin. You’ll see oil on your kleenex from the foundation, leaving behind just pure pigment on your skin. Results? Perfect coverage foundation that lasts a lot longer. Blotting is not just for lipstick you know.

Plucking Brows

Niz | Makeup | Monday, 04 July 2005

Always follow the natural shape of your brow. Begin by brushing your brows up and back. A good rule of thumb to follow so you don’t lose the arch in your brows is to pluck from underneath on the outer arch and from up above on the inner part of the arch. Remember to apply some moisturiser soon after.

Cosmetic Allergy Testing

Niz | Makeup | Wednesday, 22 June 2005

A simple way to determine whether or not you may be allergic to a certain cosmetic: dampen an area of skin along your inner arm with tepid water. Apply the cosmetic you think you might be allergic to and leave it in place for 24 hours. If, after this length of time, there is some reaction, i.e. itchiness or redness, this indicates that your skin may be allergic to this cosmetic.
