Dental Implants: Fundamentals and BasicsHow many times in your life have you been to a dentist? Only when you have your teeth broken or teeth missed, you have been there on the chair of the dentist. As per the procedure, your dentist will ask you to take x-rays to know and examine the condition of the upper and lower teeth. You have only to options. The dentist may bring you good news saying that there is no much problem with your teeth or there is some serious problem with the same. Sometimes he may tell you that your damaged teeth can’t be repaired or removed. If the condition is not an advanced one, he will convince you with medical suggestions to cure your dental problem. Imagine that there are four teeth to be removed from your mouth. Your dentist will surely suggest you three different ideas. You have to proceed with the one that suits your body condition and financial condition. The three options are:
The third option is not an ordinary one and you can’t simply choose that. Before opting for implant system, you must know in detail about it. Dental Implants: How are they done? The false or artificial tooth will be placed in the place of the removed teeth and this process is done by drilling a hole in the area where the natural teeth are removed from. The implant bevel is fixed in the drilled area into the jaw. This is not a quick process and the patient has to wait for few months to get the healing process over. Dentist will attach a crown to the implanted screw. The crown is a temporary one and it allows the gum to shrink and to attain the natural size and this is not a permanent one. They will insert this crown into the hole made to the bevel needed and this crown is used to adjust the gums to accept the permanent one easily. If the permanent matches the gum once, the temporary one will be removed soon. Dental Implants and Success levelThe success of the dental implants depends on various external and internal factors. The success is based on the real talent of the oral surgeon, the nature and flexibility of the jaw bone that is used to allow the implanted bevel and the amount of care given by the patient. The study says that success rate ranges from 75-95% depending upon the above said factors. Dental Implants: Failure LevelNot all the times implant last for long period. If the implant is lost, then dental implant is considered a failure. If the implant becomes loose or there is loss of bone, implant is a failure. The patient has to be very hygienic and has to give proper care to the implant, or else the implant will be subjected to decay. Smoking habit is also another factor that affects the success rate of the dental implants. |
