Hair Loss CureMost men hope they never have to look for a hair loss cure. Hair loss may be the most dreaded change they face as they age for most men. In the back of their minds they think there is no hair loss cure and this is one aging problem they can't combat. Some begin to look around at older male relatives to estimate how much hair they have lost in comparison. Why do men fear hair loss so much? Many men equate hair loss with loss of virility, youth and appeal to the opposite sex. They see their bald heads and their thinning hair as signs that they are joining the ranks of the "old fogeys" that they used to laugh about. Samson's hair loss was written about in the Bible. One message was clear that when he lost his hair he became weak and powerless. There is no real hair loss cure. But there are processes and medications that can halt the hair loss or even reverse it to some extent. For centuries people have tried and practiced hair loss cures in many different forms. Some were quite inventive, though entirely unsuccessful as hair loss cures. Cleopatra treated the balding Julius Caesar with her own hair loss remedy which consisted of mixing horses’ teeth, grease from bears, mice that had been burned and the marrow of deer. Other Egyptians applied urine from hedgehogs directly to the scalp in attempts to stop hair loss. A man can choose surgery as a hair replacement alternative, though it is not a hair loss cure. During a hair transplant the physician simply moves small amounts of hair from places where it is growing abundantly, usually the sides or back of the head, and moves them to areas that are balding. After many months this treatment does present an appearance of re-growth, though it is not a hair loss cure. Another cosmetic response to hair loss is not a cure. It does suggest that there is no baldness. This involves expansion of scalp tissue. The surgeon inserts small balloons underneath the patient's scalp between the areas of the head where the hair is the densest. These balloons inflate gradually over several months. This area becomes larger by about 30-35 percent, is then removed through surgery. The sides are then brought to the top of the scalp. Another apparent hair loss cure is the surgical reduction of a man's scalp. By removing loose scalp skin, the physician creates the effect of raising the side hair closer to the balding top of the head. It can also include a slight lifting of skin on the forehead. While this isn't a hair loss cure, it does have the positive effect of decreasing wrinkles. It is really important, that you remember there is really no hair loss cure as you look for a way to reduce, stop or slow your hair loss, or reverse the effects of your balding. While there are many medications and even homeopathic treatments you can try, none is really a hair loss cure. If someone is trying to sell you a hair loss cure, beware. You may lose your money along with your hair. |
