How to Get Rid of Nits: A Common Question

How to get rid of nits? A question asked by many households who are facing the threat and problem of head louse. If you find your child scratching his head and a close look will show you nit in his hair. Suddenly a question will erupt in your mind, how to get rid of nits?

Some people suggest that you must cut your hair. But this is not a solution because the nits are attached on the hair near the scalp skin. So it is difficult. You can shave off all your hair. But this does not seam feasible. Apart from this there are many other remedies to get rid of nits.

Many medicines for hair lice are available in the market. They are in the form of lotions, solutions or liquid. You can ask your doctor who can prescribe one such medicine for you. You can apply it on your hair as advised. This kills many lice and nits.

If you do not want to use chemical based solutions due to the threat that such chemicals may be harmful, the best method for you will be a comb soaked in a disinfectant like Lysol. This is a special type of comb with very fine tooth. Not like our regular combs. Such a comb should be run off through out your hair and scalp. Disinfectant will kill the nits and the comb will pull them out.

Luke warm castor oil application is also a good remedy. This has to be applied on scalp s the nits are attached to the hair that is near the scalp skin. You can keep it for some two to three hours and then wash off thoroughly with the regular shampoo.
