Head Louse Prevention: How You Can Do It?Head louse prevention is an important area as the problem of head louse is very irritating. It has t be attended urgently. You will be tired of scratching your head, but will have to d it as it itches you. Head lice are the parasites that live on blood of your scalp. They are very tiny insects. They have six legs in the front and they crawl through your head. They multiply much faster. They are contagious in the way that they are transferred by the means of hair comb or hairbrush. It does not have the tendency to fly. A female louse lays on an average fifty eggs per day. They remain for about a month and later on are hatched and become nymph lice. They multiply further. Thus this problem needs to be attended at the earliest. Head louse prevention is mainly the matter of personal hygiene. You must know that lice are mainly found in dampened and oily scalp. You must clean your hair and scalp regularly. If required you can use medicated shampoo. Screening along the scalp will help to know the number of nits. You have to remove these nits. You can use herbal treatment or chemical based shampoo, whatsoever in combination with fine hairbrush. For screening, you can also use conditioner and fine comb moved through out your hair. You should not exchange your hair comb or hairbrush with any body else. Even children should be made aware that exchanging caps, hats and hair combs can lead to such severe problems. The lice may get transferred from one head to other. Most of the time, child remains in the school. Thus it is necessary that at some intervals, screenings by some medical personnel of head scalp of children is done. The parents must be informed as regards to the same. The parents must be informed in case of outbreak of this problem. This will help in head louse prevention. Children must be made well aware of the symptoms. He should be asked to inform you if he feels itching or irritation on his scalp. Rather than feeling embarrassed, you must take preventive and removal steps. |
