Each female louse lays about 50 eggs and these remains on head for about a month. They are hatched and further grow. There should be a check on this. Pediculosis is it’s other name. Nits are like dandruff and thus difficult to know that hair is infested with lice and nits. Though it is not a disease, it is even more traumatic than a disease. It is difficult and time consuming to treat and get rid of it completely.

Head louse removal is tough. You have to be alert through out the treatment. You have to pick up the nits and live lice with the help of comb. This comb is specially designed. It has fine tooth. Lice get trapped and you can get relief. To smoothen your hair, apply olive oil or conditioner, so that the lice can be easily trapped, as it loses its grip.

 You can use remedial measures like tea tree oil, neem leaves etc. You can apply certain chemical solutions available in the market. These have chemical base. You can use medicated shampoo as per the instructions on the bottle. Which ever remedy you use, you have to accompany it with combing treatment, as it will help you to get rid of nits, nymphs and adult louse, dead or alive. You have to repeat the cycle of treatment again after a week, so that those eggs, which will be hatched after some time will also be removed with the second cycle.

Head louse removal also depends on head louse prevention. The children should be educated as regards to maintaining personal hygiene. They should be taught to keep the head scalp and hair clean. They should be made aware that how dangerous is exchanging the caps, hats and combs.

Schools and child-care centers should become alert with the alarming rate of infestations. Due to infected person, the transfer takes place by leap and bounds. So they should encourage regular screenings and educate child about this serious issue.
