HGH Side Effects
HGH (or "human growth hormone") is considered to be one of today's hottest new discoveries. While it is a naturally-occurring protein hormone located in the pituitary gland in the back of the head, HGH controls some of the most important functions of our whole body. Not only does it induce the growth of bones, muscle mass, and burn fat, but it also controls the tightness of our skin and other youth-related properties. When scientists created a synthetic form of HGH that could be taken internally to increase the levels of HGH in our body, many people flocked to their doctors to get a prescription. Today, it's even easier to get since the pill form of HGH was introduced. It seemed like a miracle to many. Too good to be true. Is it?
There are many potential side effects when taking HGH. Your chances of experiencing them are higher if you already have sufficient levels of HGH, like bodybuilders who take it for increased muscle mass. There is, however, less potential for side effects in younger adults than older adults. One of the hardest problem when understanding the risks involved with HGH is that there are not enough resources on this topic. Since HGH has been developed fairly recently, there has not been enough long-term studies and research done to prove certain theories. However, some things do show a pattern and we will look at these next since they are the common side effects experienced or prompted by HGH in the short-term studies already conducted.
One of the most common side effects is the disease called acromegaly, which is caused by too much HGH in the body. An individual afflicted with acromegaly experiences their hands getting larger and spade-like as well as a distortion of facial structure as it grows larger as well. The tongue becomes bigger, the eyebrows more pronounced, spaces appear between the teeth, and the skin becomes rough and oily. Not only does physical appearance change, but inside, the heart, liver and kidney continue to grow as well. If not dealt with, it can lead to serious problems such as cardiomyopathy. Cancer risks escalate.
Some other possible side effects include random swelling, arthritis-like symptoms, carpal tunnel symptoms, headaches and migraines, bloating, muscle pain, diabetes, abnormal growth of bones and internal organs, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, temporary fluid retention, and the possibility of getting prostate or other cancers.
While the side effects are very dangerous when taking HGH when unnecessary, it is important to recognize that individuals who are treated with HGH who need it for physical ailments often don't experience many side effects at all. It's important to ask your doctor questions about HGH if you are interested and to find out more, especially concerning whether HGH is right for you or not. It is a drug that affects people differently, so keep that in mind when making your choice. There are many positive and negative aspects of HGH and only you can determine whether the reasons for taking HGH outweigh the reasons not to take it.
