Much of the modern revival of henna derives from its recognition in India. Normally an easy fingernail art starts with the washing and sanitizing of the person’s hands, fingers preferably with jewellery removed. You can remove the stained nails or artificial nails with chemical nail polish remover. The hands may be cleaned with soap and hot water, or by scrubbing with a bath salt and rinsing with hot water. The salt scrub has the benefit of removing dead skin cells via abrasion. The hands and fingers are then dried with a clean towel. The fingernails are then trimmed and filed to the required length and shape using fingernail file. Metal nail files can be used for quick removal of nail material, however this can stress the nails. Fine glass files are preferred for simple fingernail art performance.

Disposable two-sided emery boards can be used sometimes. These disposable paperboards coated with emery, are an abrasive. Generally one side of the board is rougher than the other. With easy nail art proper filing technique begins with the file at the outer edge of the nail, moving towards the center and then this is repeated from the other side of the nail to the center. The file must not be moved back and forth in a saw-like motion. Hands, in simple nail art, are then soaked in water to soften the skin, especially the cuticles. If needed, a cream, oil, or chemical cuticle remover can be applied to soften cuticles and detach them from the top of the fingernail. The cuticles are then pushed back with a cuticle pusher, which is simply a wooden stick with a flat end, sometimes-wrapped in cotton.

Often metal cuticle pushers are used but they should be used with great care, as they can damage the fingernail matrix and leave stained nails. Orangewood is the considered as the preferred material because of its softness. Fingernails are then polished with a polishing board, a board made of hard foam, paper, or plastic, to remove stained nails. A softer foam layer is added to each side, and fine polishing surfaces are located on the foam. One side is for the rough polish, and the other side is for tearing into a finer polish and an ultra fine polish to make the nails shine. Simple finger nail art procedures are usually finished with a hand massage using hand lotion or oils. What follows is a sketch of a typical hand-massage session.
