The job of the American Board of Plastic Surgery:The main job of The American Board of Plastic Surgery is to evaluate and fix the essential requirement for the qualification, to conduct examination and to issue certificate to the candidates meets the essential educational requirement and pass the board examination. In addition to the above, The American Board of Plastic Surgery will also conduct all the necessary activities required for the establishing minimum educational standards or conducting examination or any other legal activity required for functioning of the board. The board is formed under the laws prevailing in the State of Illinois for charitable, scientific and educational purposes and is not a university or educational institute so the certificates issued by the board are not equivalent to any degree or diploma and thus the person obtaining a board certificate do not have any legal qualification, privilege or license to act as plastic surgeon. Marquis Who’s Who in coordination with ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialists) publishes and updates regularly the ABMS directory of board certified medical specialists and any person certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery is listed in the Marquis Who’s who published officials American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) directory. General and Professional requirements:It is required from a candidate to have a graduate degree from a medical school in a State or Jurisdiction of the United States. The medical degree providing medical school should be accredited on the date of degree by concerned authorities such as either LCME ( Liaison Committee for Medical Education ) or in case of Canadian Medical School it should be accredited by CACMS (Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools), or American Osteopathic Association (AOA). |
