Botulinum Toxin - Blessing In DisguiseBotulinum toxin can be called as blessing in disguise because if used properly it can cure and if doesn’t it can harm. Primarily it is a neurotoxin protein that is produced by a bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is in fact the most poisonous and noxious substance that is produced naturally in the world. If used in purified form it can cure various problems related to muscles reduction or contradiction. But if used naturally it not only damages the muscles causing paralysis, it even can lead to death. With the medical advancement all over the globe, the death rate from botulinum toxic used in treatment has reduced to a great extent in comparison to what it was 30 years ago. Although it is a deadly toxic but if the dose is used in minute quantity then it can even heal certain ailments related to muscles and skin. In various parts of the world, this treatment is widely used under the brands of botox and dysport but however these names don’t generally describe the neurons or neurotoxin given by clostridia bacteria. Recently, a study made in Atlanta by National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has proved botulinum toxin as very unlikely and improbable substance to be used for treatment as still, dozens of people especially kids and infants are dying because of the toxic. Mostly botulinum toxic carrying bacteria are found almost everywhere. From topsoil to aquatic sediments, the spores of this deadly bacterium are commonly found in fruits, seafood and vegetables. As a matter of fact the bacteria are harmless but the toxin, which it produces, is very lethal. There are indeed seven different types of Clostridium Botulinum toxic from word A through G found all across the world. Depending on the nature of bacteria there are about three main kinds of botulism toxic- food-borne, infant and wound. When a person directly consumes the poison then it is known as food borne toxic and it can easily be cured. In wound botulism toxic that’s very uncommon, the bacterium grows from the tainted wound. According to figures and statistics, the infant kind of botulinum toxic that was acknowledged in 70s is the most common form of syndrome. Basically people always connect the botulinum toxic with food poisoning. The most common symptoms of the disease are fatigue, tiredness, dry mouth, difficulty in consuming the food and paralysis, but in most of the cases physicians misunderstand the symptoms and diagnose the respective person with Guillin-Barre disease, intoxication and several other syndromes. This is the key reason why federal health officials have declared the condition as under diagnosed. Botox is primarily used for treating muscles contractions, to get a face-lift. Apart from this, botox is also used to treat migraine, neuromuscular syndrome, hyperhidrosis, blepharospasm, anal fissure, TMJ disorder and many more. Although the Federal Register notice has criticized the use of Botulinum toxin for botox but still it is widely used in suburban cities of the world and in fact is very commonly used in US. |
