Learn More About Skin GraftingMany times people suffer from skin problems like acne and sun burn which can lead to scars on the skin. These scars look so weird on your skin that you feel embarrassed while going to a public place, which is obvious. To solve the problem of skin scars medical science has developed many new techniques like ointments, messages etc. but all of these treatment methods are not reliable if your scar is of high degree, then what to do; we can’t live with scars making our lives less joyful. Well, don’t worry, there is a solution to all your problems and this is called Skin grafting. Let us now understand what skin grafting is and how it is done and who can go for skin grafting. Skin grafting is a type of medical grafting or you can say it is a kind of skin transplantation where the skin tissues are replaced by new ones and the older and diseased tissues are removed from the dermatome layer. The new transplanted tissues form the so-called skin graft. Some of the application areas of skin grafting include wounds that have been converted into scars, traumas on skin, burning sensations or cuts, infection areas on kin, scars due to surgery or something like that. Basically skin craft uses a bridging method to level the skin to the same texture as the neighboring tissues. This may require very precise handling of the patient’s skin and hence it is recommended to go for a certified surgeon for this surgery, though it is not a very high degree in terms of surgeries are concerned. In skin grafting first the damaged skin is removed with the help of a minor surgery and then the damaged portion that has been removed is replaced by the skin graft or the healthy tissues. The two functions that skin grafting does is that it helps you in getting a cure for the damaged skin and it saves time that is needed for the treatment otherwise, also it makes your skin appearance much better on the area of body that has undergone the skin grafting. Well skin grafting is not necessary for every scar you have, it is just some scars that cannot be treated otherwise and in that case you have to go for some surgical procedure. Minor scars are of very little concern and they get shaded away with time. These are scars that can be treated with the help of ointments. But for major scars you need some treatment method that it more powerful than these normal ointments. Some of the most drastic and ugly scars can be seen after acne. Most of the patients suffering from acne do tend to get inferiority complex while going into public because the very thought of their scar getting noticed in public gives them an embarrassing feeling. These scars do not heal by themselves or by ointments and hence at that moment you need to for skin replacement methods as skin grafting. |
