Wear the right sun blocks and know how sunscreens protect your skin plus some quick tips on how to apply them

What excess sun exposure can do to your skin?

- Tanning & sunburn

Which Sunscreen to wear?

Preferably wear sunscreens which blocks both UVA and UVB. An SPF of 15 is adequate for routine use but for sun sensitive skin and prolonged periods of exposure an SPF of 30 at least is recommended plus UVA protection. Quick Tips on wearing sunscreens

- Use it liberally-that's the secret! About a coin shaped quantity for your face and that goes for each arm too.
- Use it on all over the exposed areas 10-15 minutes before you step outdoors. Remember, if you can see through your clothes, the sun can as well. So hold up your dress to the light & look through if light permeates, then apply sunscreen to covered areas as well.
- A sunscreen must be reapplied every 2 hours & after toweling every time at the poolside or beach. Use hypo-allergenic brands if you have sensitive skin say Vicky or Banana Boat - a tad on the expensive side but worthwhile if you can afford it.
- Lastly do try avoiding direct sun exposure between the peak hours of 10 am & 4 pm.
