Winter Wedding FavorsMore people are planning winter weddings. This is advantageous to anyone, as this is often a less busy time of year for most people, except of course during a winter holiday. So, how do you plan a wedding that takes place in the winter, and which party favors do you choose? Believe it or not, it is just as fun-or perhaps even more fun-than planning a summer, fall, or spring wedding. Just think of all that could represent winter as you plan your wedding reception decoration theme. Most-Used Symbolisms of Winter Often winter is characterized by pure, white snow, snowmen, snowflakes or snow-dusted pine trees and/or pine cones. A cabin in the woods with a fireplace also represents this time of the year, and of course icicles, ice bergs, polar bears, and ice sculptures are representative of this time of the year. Of course, if the wedding takes place during the Christmas, New Year's Valentine's or other winter holiday seasons you have the option of choosing colors that represent those celebrations. However, it is usually recommended that you not plan your wedding in accordance to a holiday. It could take away from your special day and it may be harder for people to make plans to attend. However, usually there is no harm in stealing a few holiday celebration colors and incorporating them into your wedding theme. Not everything about your winter wedding is expected to be pure white. You can have fun creating or ordering winter wedding favors just by thinking of the most obvious signs of winter. However, if you are a nature nut you may also want to consider choosing winter wedding favors that are lesser-known or less-thought about representations of winter. Unique Symbolisms of Winter If you want to create a more “fun” type of winter theme you can consider one or more of the following: Ice shanty place holders for the winter sports-minded. Or how about a snowman on skis? Even more creative would be to make or distribute favors shaped like one or more of the following winter animals (besides polar bear): penguins, foxes, wolves, deer, and bears. Birds such as chickadees, snow buntings, and cardinals also represent winter. Winter Wedding Favor Ideas Place cards and holders as well as wine bottle stoppers and openers often contain one or more of the above-mentioned representations of winter. You can also find more uniquely-crafted items for sale such as snowflake-covered chocolate boxes or ice shanty candle holders. Another one-of-a-kind idea would be to purchase real or fake miniature ice sculptures. Sometimes clear class candle holders are constructed to look like blocks of ice. These objects usually double as table decorations and mementos for guests to take home. However, perhaps you are not into any of the above, or they may be too expensive to purchase. A simpler idea for a wedding would be to small pieces of real or fake evergreen branches with a white ribbon lined with silver (or a white ribbon sprayed with clear, shiny, glitter). Summary Believe it or not, it is just as fun-or perhaps even more fun-than planning a summer, fall, or spring wedding. So is choosing the table favors that will represent the winter theme of your reception hall decoration theme. |
